We carry three different boom pole packages:
- Sennheiser ME-66 Handheld – $40
- ME-66 w/ C-Stand and Sandbag – $50
- Sennheiser 416 w/ C-Stand and Sandbag – $60
The Sennheiser ME-66 and MKH-416 are both directional microphones. The 416 is a level higher and should give you a little more clarity in your sound. The ME-66 can be powered through either an internal AA battery or through phantom power from your camera or audio recorder. The 416 requires phantom power.
If you are using a DSLR such as a Canon 5D or a Sony A7 Camera, we highly suggest using a separate audio recorder, such as the Zoom H6. These cameras can record audio, but it is more of a reference sound.
We also carry an alternate Fotodiox Stand with a 90-degree arm to act as a boom. The advantage is that it combines the abilities of a C-Stand, Boom Mate, and Boom Pole. The disadvantage is that the stand has a max height of 6′ 3″. To place the mic higher, you are setting the 90-degree arm at an elevated angle, which might be an issue for taller standing subjects.
