At Production Junction, the C300 Mark II has been a workhorse camera for our clientele, so it was only natural that we pick up Canon’s latest installment in their Cinema EOS series.
The most touted feature of the Mark III is the “dual-gain” Super 35 sensor, which allows for over 16 stops of dynamic range. It can also shoot 120fps RAW at 4K or 1080p, and can even hit 180fps if you shoot in crop mode. Production Junction has also picked up the user-changeable PL lens mount, so you can use all your favorite cinema lenses without the need for an adapter. Even the quality-of-life improvements that were brought to the C500 Mark II are here, like the XLR ports being on the body, and the 4″ touch-screen LCD that takes advantage of the dual-pixel autofocus.
